With more than 30 years of experience, both as a senior researcher with the JKMRC (a University of Queensland sponsored research institute) and as Manager of Technical and Applied Research at Teck Cominco’s Red Dog Mine in Alaska, Dr. Kojovic’s innovative and value-adding solutions are now accessible to the mining and mineral processing community worldwide.
Over the past two decades, Dr. Kojovic has worked with numerous operations in crushing, grinding and mine-mill optimization, and is a consultant in this field, applying his expertise to the base metals, coal, and minerals industries around the world. Dr. Kojovic has worked as Research Consultant to the JKMRC and JKTech Pty Ltd on selected comminution related projects and is a co-developer of the JKRBT ore breakage testing device.
Dr Kojovic has commercialized a portable ore breakage device called HIT, aimed at rapid mapping of ore hardness using samples of small fragments from drill core, blast hole rejects or mill feed. The HIT has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 10.739,238 B2, and now accepted under title “Apparatus and Method for determining the hardness of a granular material”, in Canada and Australia. Dr. Kojovic has and continues to work as a comminution consultant with several global operations including Teck, Highland Valley Copper Partnership, Agnico Eagle Mines Limited, and ME Elecmetal. Dr. Kojovic is co-author of the JKMRC Comminution Monograph, co-editor of Barry Wills Mineral Processing Technology textbook and has authored more than 90 papers on mineral processing technologies. He is a member of the SME, AusIMM, IEAust and IOQ.

Dr Toni Kojovic
Dr Toni Kojovic is a highly accomplished and recognized leader in the field of mining and mineral processing. His name is synonymous with cutting edge modelling and simulation analysis of comminution circuits. With a PhD in mathematical model building, Dr Kojovic has spent the past three decades applying his expertise to the base metals, coal and minerals industries around the world. In 2003, Dr Kojovic started his consulting company, SimSAGe and has worked closely with over 50 clients including Agnico Eagle Mines Limited, BHP Billiton Iron Ore, Highland Valley Copper Partnership, Luck Stone Corporation, ME Elecmetal, Rio Tinto Hamersley Iron and Teck. The financial benefit to these companies from implementation of his recommendations has been conservatively estimated inexcess of US$50 million. In October 2016 he released a portable, high impact rock breakage tester called the HIT (U.S. Patent No. 10.739,238 B2). This device is poised to become a game changer in the industry practice of rock breakage testing, by granting immediate access to rapid, high volume, inexpensive, rock hardness testing results.
Alice Cutter
Alice Cutter has been working with SimSAGe since February 2006. She brings a wealth of experience in marketing and communications, specifically the writing and editing of all marketing materials, press releases and in working with the media. With a background in corporate training both from the training delivery side and the writing of curriculum she has been instrumental in the formulation of courses for SimSAGe. She is currently the marketing and legal liaison in the commercial development and patenting of the HIT.
